So what is the Stephen Lewis Foundation and why should

you care?

AIDS is a globally influential disease where there is a severe loss of the body's ability to fight malicious infections and disease. AID was believed to have originated in the Congo, however, because of lack of basic needs and especially health care, the Stephen Lewis Foundation aims to turn the tide of HIV and AIDS in Africa for women, children, grandmothers, and overall people in Africa.

The Stephen Lewis Foundation (SLF) works with community-level organizations which are turning the tide of HIV&AIDS in Africa by providing care and support. Since 2003, we have funded over 1,400 initiatives, partnering with more than 300 community-based organizations in the 15 African countries hardest hit by the global AIDS pandemic.

These grassroots groups are the lifeline for their communities: they provide counselling and education about HIV prevention, care and treatment; distribute food, medication and other necessities; reach the sick and vulnerable through home-based health care; help orphans and vulnerable children access education and work through their grief; and support grandmothers caring for their orphaned grandchildren.

The Imagine Canada Standards Program

The Stephen Lewis Foundation believes that transparency and accountability are essential. With this in mind, we are proud to be accredited by Imagine Canada’s Standards Program.
